Located in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal, Sagarmatha National Park encompasses 1,148 square kilometers of dramatic mountains, glaciers, and deep valleys. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is most famous for harboring Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), the highest peak on Earth. Elevations range from 2,845 meters to 8,848 meters. The park is characterized by rugged terrain, vast frozen glaciers, and several other towering peaks exceeding 7,000 meters, such as Lhotse and Cho Oyu.

Declared a national park in 1976, this sanctuary represents a blend of extreme topography, rich biodiversity, and deep cultural heritage. The park encompasses seven additional peaks soaring over 7,000 meters, including Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The terrain is overwhelmingly alpine; roughly 69% of the park is barren rock and ice, 28% is grazing land, and only about 3% consists of forests.

BY Air :  Flights typically depart from Manthali Airport (Ramechhap) due to air traffic congestion in Kathmandu, though some flights still depart from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Reaching Manthali requires a 4 to 5-hour drive from Kathmandu. Passport must have six months or more validity remaining at the time of entry. One blank visa page available in passport for visa (not endorsements page) Nepali authorities generally allow entrance on an emergency passport printed overseas. Visa appropriate for purpose of travel.
BY TAxi :  The village of Jiri is the last roadhead to Sagarmatha National Park. Take a bus to Jiri from Kathmandu.
