Red Mosque

The term "Red Mosque" typically refers to the iconic Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Known for its striking red-and-white striped design, it blends Indo-Islamic, Gothic, and Neo-classical architecture. Built in 1908 by Habibu Labbe Saibu Lebbe, it is one of the oldest and most famous mosques in the city. Location: Situated in the bustling commercial district of Pettah, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Design & Style: A hybrid of Indo-Islamic, Neo-classical, and Gothic Revival styles. It features a unique candy cane-like red and white striped exterior, along with striking pomegranate-shaped domes, minarets, and arched windows.

BY Air : Reaching the Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar) by air requires flying into Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Department approves the purpose of entry to Sri Lanka. The applicant holds a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of first arrival in Sri Lanka. The Department is satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds for their stay in Sri Lanka, and for their return passage to their country of origin.
